About Me

Hello, I'm Heather!

I'm a nomad at heart, having spent my school years changing schools nearly every single year and my adult life moving around the world with my husband Michael, two sons Nathan and Benjamin, and our dog, Lucy Rocket. Some people like to travel, I like to say we're seeing the whole world by living in one country at a time!

We are currently calling Shanghai, China home, at least through the end of 2017. We've also lived in America, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Macau. One of these days we hope to live somewhere in Europe, but for now I'm in the Asia chapter of my life!

I'm grateful to have this space to write and have met some really spectacular people over the last eight years of telling my story online. I've also been able to put people in touch with other people in the various places we've lived, so if you stumble upon this blog because you're about to move to Hong Kong or Macau or Shanghai, drop me a line and I'll connect you with someone who can help you get settled!

I'm very curious, love adventures, and process everything I see through writing about it. This wandering life isn't for everything, but it's perfect for me!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll stay awhile!

Hi Heather,

Love the blog! I recently published my first novel, "Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside," which is about two Americans (one an entitled deadbeat, the other a fledgling idealist) teaching English in rural Hunan, and was wondering if you might be interested in reading and reviewing it here. You can learn more about the book on Amazon or Goodreads, and I'd be more than happy to send you an electronic copy. Thanks for considering! Hope to hear back from you :)
