2001
This is one of my very favorites! We moved to Japan when Nathan was 10 weeks old. I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience there. Yes, it was tough. We had a brand new baby and no family or help and lived in an area where there were no other English speaking expats... but it was wonderful all the same. As soon as we arrived in Japan, I made plans to have our photo taken in kimonos for our Christmas card. These are wedding clothes we are wearing, and my kimono took two ladies about 30 minutes to get on me! Many layers and wraps, and a very specific way to put it on. The kimono that Nathan is wearing is pure silk and was worth several hundred dollars! He was such a drooly baby I was worried that he would destroy it!
